Russian drones strike three cargo ships bound for Odesa region ports, killing Egyptian crew member
Russian drone attacks on three cargo ships in the Black Sea heading to Odesa region ports resulted in one fatality, an Egyptian national.
Russian forces attacked three cargo ships with drones in the Black Sea early on June 22 as the vessels were en route to ports in the Odesa region, according to Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa regional military administration.
One of the ships hit was a dry cargo vessel sailing under a Panamanian flag. A fire broke out on board, and the crew was evacuated. One crew member, an Egyptian national who worked as the ship's cook, was killed, Kiper said.
Ukraine's Navy reported that the crew of the dry cargo vessel included citizens of Egypt, Turkey, and India.
Two other ships, sailing under the flags of Palau and Belize, were also struck. No casualties were reported in those attacks.
