On the evening of July 17, Russian troops shelled the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv. The attack killed one man and wounded nine people, including two young boys aged 7 and 2.
Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, confirmed the fatality and initially reported four wounded – the two children and two men aged 24 and 50. Later he updated the number of wounded to nine.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said the strike hit the city center, damaging residential buildings. Initially he reported ten wounded, at least a third of them children, but later revised the figure to eight.
Earlier the same day, Russian forces also struck Izium in Kharkiv region with a guided aerial bomb, wounding three children and a 40-year-old man.
