Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs (AS), during a working visit to Paris, urged international partners to step up support for Ukraine and bolster NATO's eastern flank. He attended a meeting of the Good Will Coalition leaders focused on Ukraine support and European security.
During the visit, Kulbergs met with French President Emmanuel Macron, calling for an increase in France's military presence in Latvia. Macron expressed willingness to advance the issue. In talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, both leaders agreed to organize a bilateral visit soon to strengthen economic and security cooperation. He also held discussions with the Prime Ministers of Malta and Albania on investment attraction and economic development.
Kulbergs emphasized the need for full military, political, and economic support for Ukraine, along with strict sanctions against Russia without exceptions. He stressed that European security requires more decisive action, including strengthening NATO's eastern flank and allied presence in the Baltic region.
On July 13, the Prime Minister attended the unveiling of a commemorative plaque for the Baltic Way on Swan Island in the Seine near the Eiffel Tower. The event was also attended by the Estonian Prime Minister, the Lithuanian Deputy Speaker of the Seimas, the Mayor of Paris, and the French Minister for European Affairs.
