Latvia Submits Application to Venice Architecture Biennale, Reserves Right to Withdraw if Russia Participates
Latvian Minister of Culture Nauris Puntulis has submitted an application for Latvia's participation in the 20th Venice International Architecture Biennale, while stating that Latvia reserves the right to withdraw its participation if aggressor state Russia is also represented at the event.

Latvian Minister of Culture Nauris Puntulis has sent an application letter to the organizers of the 20th Venice International Architecture Biennale on behalf of Latvia, confirming the country's participation in this major international art event. At the same time, the letter emphasizes that Latvia reserves the right to withdraw its participation if the aggressor state Russia is also represented at the biennale.
According to the Ministry of Culture, this step is part of Latvia's consistent stance to prevent Russia's involvement in international cultural events as long as it continues its aggression in Ukraine. The decision to withdraw will be made based on the final list of participants provided by the biennale's organizers.
The Venice Architecture Biennale is one of the most prestigious architecture forums globally, and Latvia has regularly participated in it. This year's biennale is scheduled to take place from May to November, with its theme yet to be announced. Latvia's participation is supported by state funding and collaboration with the Latvian Association of Architects.
