LeBron James Could Become Kristaps Porzingis' Teammate in Golden State
Reports suggest LeBron James might join Kristaps Porzingis on the Golden State Warriors, but the team's financial flexibility is limited after Porzingis' contract.

Speculation about LeBron James moving to the Golden State Warriors has intensified following Kristaps Porzingis' arrival. Initially, there was talk of using the $15 million midlevel exception to sign James, but after Porzingis' contract, that option has become less viable.
However, Draymond Green has provided some financial relief by declining his $27.6 million player option for the final year of his contract on Monday, June 29, with the intention of signing a new, likely cheaper deal. According to ESPN, the Warriors plan to make offers to James and other unrestricted free agents.
To acquire Anthony Davis, who has two years left on his contract with the Washington Wizards (the final year is a player option, with $58.4 million for next season), a trade would be necessary. Jimmy Butler, who is recovering from an Achilles tendon injury, is considered the primary candidate to be traded, as both players have similar annual salaries. The deal might also include at least two first-round draft picks.
However, ESPN analyst Brian Windhorst suggests that LeBron and Davis might be using this situation to secure more lucrative contracts from their current teams. All three players—Green, James, and Davis—share the same agent, Rich Paul, who has recently negotiated huge deals for other clients like Austin Reaves (with the Lakers) and Trae Young (over $200 million from the Wizards).
