Majority of AI-Related Jobs in Europe Now Outside Tech Sector

The European labour market is undergoing a significant shift as more employers include artificial intelligence in their job titles. According to data from global hiring platform Indeed, in the first quarter of 2026, Germany had 288 AI-labelled job titles, followed by the UK (160), France (138), the Netherlands (84), and Spain (81). Compared to the first quarter of 2022, these numbers have risen sharply: Germany from 72, Spain from 8, France from 35, the UK from 61, and the Netherlands from 21.

Indeed's data also shows that the share of AI-labelled job titles among all postings has grown rapidly. In Germany, they account for 4.2% of all job titles (up from 0.8% in 2022), France 3.3%, the UK 2.7%, Spain 2.3%, and the Netherlands 2.2%.

More importantly, the majority of these AI-labelled jobs are now outside tech roles. In Germany, 59% of such titles are non-tech; the Netherlands 58%; France and the UK 54% each. Spain is the exception, with 64% still in tech.

Pawel Adrjan, Director of Economic Research at Indeed, stated that “employers are not only hiring AI specialists, but they are also adding AI to the titles of jobs where the use of AI tools is required – an indication of how AI is already reshaping jobs.” Examples from the UK include roles like “Solution Sales Executive - AI, Data and Analytics” and “Legal Counsel, Privacy, Product & AI”; in Germany, HR managers are sought who can ‘use AI in HR to increase efficiency.’

In the European Union, 15% of people aged 16 to 74 used generative AI for work last year, according to Eurostat. Indeed emphasises that focusing on job titles rather than full descriptions is deliberate, as employers including AI in the title signals its central importance to the role.
