Lux Express Extends Riga–Liepāja–Palanga–Klaipėda Bus Route to 3 January
Bus operator Lux Express has extended its seasonal Riga–Liepāja–Palanga–Klaipėda service for the second time, and trips will now run until 3 January. The company says demand for travel to the Lithuanian coast has held up after the summer.

Bus operator Lux Express has extended its international Riga–Liepāja–Palanga–Klaipėda route until 3 January. The service will therefore also be available at the end of the year and over the New Year holidays. The route remains seasonal, but the company does not rule out running it year-round in the future.
This is the second extension. In August, the trips were prolonged until 25 October. Aldis Ķibēns, a board member of Lux Express Latvia, says a drop in passenger numbers was expected after the summer season, but demand turned out higher than forecast.
Growing interest from foreign tourists
The largest passenger groups on the route are still residents of Latvia and Lithuania, but the company also sees more foreign tourists. The number of travellers from Germany has risen by 8% this year compared with 2025. According to Ķibēns, Riga is increasingly the starting point for foreign visitors on a wider trip around the Baltics, during which they also visit other cities, including Liepāja and Klaipėda. He believes this helps regional tourism businesses attract visitors outside the usual summer season.
Timetable
The route will continue to have one trip per day in each direction, and the timetable will not change.
- From Monday to Saturday, the bus leaves Riga bus station at 7:00, Liepāja bus station at 10:30 and Klaipėda bus station at 12:55.
- On Sundays, it leaves Riga at 11:30, Liepāja at 15:00 and Klaipėda at 17:10.
The journey from Riga to Klaipėda takes about 5 hours 10 minutes, and from Liepāja to Klaipėda about 1 hour 40 minutes.
