CJ McCollum will remain with the Atlanta Hawks for at least one more season. ESPN insider Shams Charania reported Sunday that the guard, citing his agent Sam Goldfeder of Excel Sports Management, has agreed to a one-year contract extension worth $21 million (€18.3 million). McCollum was eligible to extend his contract until June 30, meaning he will not become a free agent.
McCollum was acquired by the Hawks in January along with Corey Kispert in a trade that sent Trae Young to the Washington Wizards. After the trade, McCollum moved into the starting lineup and the Hawks posted a 19-4 record to close the regular season. He also made at least 150 three-pointers for the 11th consecutive season, the fourth-longest streak in NBA history.
In 41 regular-season games with Atlanta, McCollum averaged 18.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.8 assists. In six playoff games, he averaged 19.2 points, three rebounds, and two assists. The Hawks finished the regular season with a 46-36 record, sixth in the Eastern Conference, but lost 2-4 to the eventual champion New York Knicks in the first round of the playoffs.
The 34-year-old was drafted 10th overall by the Portland Trail Blazers in 2013, where he played until 2022. He was then traded to the New Orleans Pelicans and later to the Wizards in 2025.
