Mercedes-Benz Invests 1 Billion Euros, Starts C-Class Production in Hungary
Mercedes-Benz has expanded its plant in Kecskemét, investing approximately 1 billion euros, and has begun producing the electric C-Class, making it the company's largest plant in Europe.

Mercedes-Benz has completed the expansion of its plant in Kecskemét, Hungary, with an investment of around one billion euros. Following the reconstruction, the facility has become the company's largest production site in Europe. The plant has now officially started production of the new electric C-Class – the first time a mid-range model is being built at this location.
The investment included the construction of new body and assembly lines, a press shop, a paint shop, and a battery assembly unit. The new section of the plant is dedicated exclusively to electric vehicle manufacturing, while existing lines will continue flexible assembly of both combustion and electric cars. According to Mercedes, this approach increases production efficiency and allows quicker adaptation to market demand.
In the future, Kecskemét will also produce electric C-Class AMG versions and the electric GLB model, using locally manufactured body parts and batteries. Additionally, the company has officially confirmed that a compact G-Class version will be exclusively produced at this plant. After the expansion, the plant's annual capacity is expected to reach 300,000 to 400,000 vehicles, significantly enhancing Hungary's role in Mercedes-Benz's European production network.
