Meta is reportedly building its own cloud business
According to a Bloomberg report, Meta is considering launching a cloud computing platform to monetize its massive AI infrastructure investments, competing with Amazon, Google, and SpaceX.

Meta, the social media giant traditionally reliant on ad revenue to fund risky bets on smart glasses and virtual reality, is now reportedly planning to enter the cloud computing market. According to a Bloomberg report, the company is exploring ways to leverage its investments in AI infrastructure to offer cloud services.
The new business venture could include selling access to AI models running on Meta's infrastructure, or leasing data center computing power to other companies for AI training. This would put Meta in direct competition with Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and even SpaceX, which recently became a cloud provider.
Meta has committed to investing $600 billion in the US by 2028 as part of its AI plans, and has made several expensive hires to build its AI superintelligence team. The new cloud business is being developed by Meta Compute, a data center and AI initiative launched in January.
Currently, Meta offers free access to its Muse Spark AI model for apps like Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, or the standalone Meta AI app. A paid subscription unlocks higher limits for image generation and access to more advanced reasoning. The company is also integrating its AI model into wearables, starting with the recently announced Meta Glasses, and like Google, is working on AI agents that can handle personal and professional tasks on behalf of users.
