Meta Launches New AI Tools for Facebook Users

Meta has released a new set of artificial intelligence tools for Facebook users, featuring a chatbot and image editing capabilities. While the offerings are not groundbreaking, their availability on the platform may benefit power users.

One of the key additions is AI Mode, a standard chatbot that answers questions. Meta demonstrates its functionality with an example of a person asking for nearby summer vacation spots. The bot pulls data from Meta's apps, including Groups and Reels, promising to provide "real perspectives and experience rather than a generic list of search results." The technology is powered by Meta's recently announced Muse Spark system.

For photo editing, there are new collage cutout templates for altering images from the camera roll and new transition effects to create "smooth, stylized video montages that are ready to share." Meta claims these videos can be made "with just a tap."

Additionally, there are new photo presets that "make it easy to change your clothing, hair and accessories with AI." Meta is pitching this feature at sports fans, so they can "easily rep your fandom and virtually wear a team jersey to celebrate."

The new tools are launching now for Facebook mobile users. There is no word on a web version.
