A company called SIA "Natur Haus" in Mētriena parish, Latvia, produces hunting towers for clients both in Latvia and abroad. It was founded by Intars Tumanovs, who lived in Germany for more than ten years and knew he would one day want to return to Latvia.

From an idea to a business

For Tumanovs, going back was not meant to be merely a change of address. He needed an idea around which to build his future in his home region. He found it by combining his professional experience of working with wood and his personal passion for hunting.

Team and state support

The company's team currently has four people, and a fifth employee is planned. The Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) has played a significant role in the company's growth. In the early years the agency provided mentoring and consultations, and later also funding for buying equipment and materials and for developing exports.

The story shows how experience gained abroad and state support programmes can become the foundation for a new business in a Latvian rural parish, with products that also reach foreign markets.
