Cultural figure, journalist and showman Samuil Golomb dies
Samuil Golomb, a well-known cultural figure, journalist and showman from Virumaa, died on Friday, July 10, at the age of 69.

On Friday, July 10, Samuil Golomb, a cultural figure, journalist and showman from Virumaa, passed away at the age of 69. His death was reported by the newspaper Virumaa Teataja.
Golomb had suffered a severe case of COVID-19, after which his health never fully recovered. He spent his final years in Ida-Virumaa, near Sillamäe.
Education and career
Golomb graduated from Rakvere 2nd Secondary School in 1973 and from the Moscow State Institute of Culture in 1981. During his career, he worked as the artistic director of the railway workers' club in Tapa, managed a club at the Vinni model sovkhoz-technicum, taught at several schools, and served as director of Aaspere Primary School and the Tallinn Jewish School.
Journalism work
Golomb was an editor for several local newspapers in Tapa, Tartu, Kiviõli, Kunda, Lüganuse and Mäetaguse. He also translated texts between Estonian and Russian. For a long time, he contributed to Radio 4 and ERR radio news as a correspondent from Lääne-Virumaa.
Other activities
In addition to journalism, Golomb organized entertainment events, worked as a master of ceremonies, advertising consultant, and hosted daytime and evening programs. He also performed as a wedding host.
Golomb was the owner of one of the largest stamp collections in Estonia.
