Naukšēni Stadium Gets Refurbished With Help From Local Volunteers
Benches have been restored, the fire-fighting sport tower tidied and the running track cleaned at the Naukšēni stadium in Valmiera municipality this year. Local volunteers did the work with support from the Valmiera Municipality Foundation.

Sports infrastructure at the Naukšēni stadium in Valmiera municipality has been renovated and tidied this year, making the site safer and more appealing for schoolchildren and other people who play sport there. The information comes from Naukšēni Primary School. The work was possible thanks to voluntary contributions from local residents and financial support from the Valmiera Municipality Foundation and its Donors' Club.
What was done
During the project, the stadium's wooden benches were restored: their wooden surfaces were replaced and the metal frames repainted. The wooden and plywood parts of the fire-fighting sport tower were also put in order, and the running track was cleaned.
The stadium is an important meeting and sports venue for the local community. School PE lessons and summer camps take place there, along with tournaments in mamaneta, volleyball, cornhole and football. The school says the improved environment will make the stadium easier and safer to use for everyday activities and competitions alike.
People involved
The school expressed special thanks to its school council, including Ivo Lauberts and Alīna Pūce, who took part in carrying out the project. The greatest gratitude went to the Lauberts family, who worked on everything from obtaining materials to screwing together and painting the benches and other elements. The school singled out Ivo Lauberts' persistence and initiative as one of the main driving forces behind the project. Thanks were also extended to all other volunteers who helped clean up the stadium.
Iveta Litvina-Freimane, director of Naukšēni Primary School, said: "I am glad and satisfied with what has been done. The practical work is only one half of this story. The greatest value is people's shared effort, cooperation and the belief that together we can achieve a lot. It is pleasing to know that we are creating an environment where everyone feels they belong."
Funding and plans
The project was carried out with financial support from the Valmiera Municipality Foundation and its Donors' Club under the "For Me, For You, For the Municipality" programme. The school notes that improvement work at the stadium will not end here and is planned to continue next year.
