Nauris Brikmanis opens up about burnout: "You're there, but you're not"
Latvian musician and radio host Nauris Brikmanis has spoken candidly about experiencing burnout multiple times, once needing hospital care before canceling a scheduled performance. He says the experience taught him to say "no" and manage his time more carefully.

Musician, improviser and "Radio SWH" radio personality Nauris Brikmanis has shared his experience with burnout in an interview for the September issue of "Jauns OK" magazine.
He recalls one occasion when he had to go to a hospital emergency department at six in the morning with elevated blood pressure and trembling, forcing him to cancel a performance that had already been scheduled. Brikmanis describes this state simply: "You're there, but you're not."
Struggling to say no
The musician admits that for a long time he was unable to turn down new offers, wanting to take on every project and combine them all, promising himself he would rest later. That approach changed once his body sent a clear signal to stop.
According to Brikmanis, it was burnout and vegetative dystonia that taught him to set boundaries and say "no" when necessary.
In the interview, he also touched on other topics, including his family, plans for the autumn, and a new stage in his music career. He explains that he now evaluates much more carefully how he spends his time and energy, in order to avoid a similar situation happening again.
