From Mexico to Japan: Šteinberga joins Sunshine Rabbits

Latvian basketball player Anete Šteinberga will continue her career with Japanese team Sunshine Rabbits, coached by Spanish legend Lucas Mondelo.

Latvian basketball player Anete Šteinberga is moving to Asia for her next club. She has signed with Sunshine Rabbits of the Japanese women's basketball league, where she will play under legendary Spanish coach Lucas Mondelo. This marks another international chapter in her career.

Šteinberga began last season in Italy with Familia Schio. In the FIBA EuroLeague, she averaged 10.4 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 0.8 assists over five games. In the Italian Serie A, her numbers over four games were 5.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per contest.

In January, the 36-year-old moved to China, signing with Henan of the Chinese Women's Basketball League. She became the first Latvian to play in that league. In eight games, she posted averages of 13 points and 7.5 rebounds. In February, she agreed to continue her career in Mexico with Adelitas de Chihuahua. Now, she is heading to Japan.

Throughout her career, Šteinberga has played for several top clubs: TTT Rīga, Castors Braine in Belgium, USK Praha in the Czech Republic, Galatasaray in Turkey, Tango Bourges in France, and Italian clubs Reyer Venezia and Familia Schio.
