The Tax and Customs Police (NMP) have detained two persons in connection with illegal activities involving tobacco products. During searches, officers found four bags of cocaine, 160 ammunition-like objects, a firearm-like object, and components of explosive devices.

The pre-trial investigation revealed that a group of individuals had been illegally purchasing, storing, and selling large quantities of tobacco products in Latvia over an extended period. The searches resulted in the seizure of 452,320 cigarettes without excise stamps, 2,439 retail packages of electronic smoking devices, 236 packages of e-liquid refills, and 19 packages containing both devices and liquid.

Both individuals have been declared suspects and subjected to non-custodial security measures. The seized items will be destroyed after forensic examinations. The investigation continues in close cooperation with the supervising prosecutor to fully clarify all circumstances and consolidate evidence. Under the law, the persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
