Gaming site MP1st has published a video that allegedly shows a canceled game called Assassin's Creed Destiny, a new entry in the Assassin's Creed series made by French publisher Ubisoft. The game was reportedly developed by Ubisoft together with Tencent, the Chinese technology group. None of this has been officially confirmed.

The video displays the title and a setting of 206 BCE, during the Qin Empire in ancient China. In the gameplay clips, the player character climbs castle walls and carries out stealth kills, as is typical for the series. Placeholder footage shows various combat skills and weapons, including an unusual one: a deadly umbrella.

What this means for Assassin's Creed Jade

Because Destiny was reportedly scrapped, the footage will probably never be used officially. Ubisoft, however, is still working on Assassin's Creed Jade, announced in 2022 as a mobile entry in the franchise, also set in ancient China.

The company has said little about the project for several years. A 2024 Reuters report stated that its release would be pushed back to 2025. Ubisoft still hasn't made any new announcements, but a company executive recently told VGC that the game will include co-op gameplay.

Engadget suggests that some elements of Destiny could end up in the upcoming mobile game, though that remains speculation.
