Norway Knocks Brazil Out of World Cup; Haaland Scores Twice
Erling Haaland scored two late goals to give Norway a 2-1 victory over Brazil in the World Cup round of 16, sending the five-time champions home and securing Norway's first-ever quarterfinal appearance.

Norway's men's national football team defeated five-time world champion Brazil 2-1 (0-0) in the World Cup round of 16 on Sunday. Striker Erling Haaland scored both goals in the final 20 minutes of the match. This is the first time Norway has advanced to the quarterfinals in the tournament's history.
In the 14th minute, Brazil was awarded a penalty after a VAR review, but Bruno Guimarães's spot-kick was saved by Norwegian goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland. This marked the first time since 1986 that a Brazilian player failed to convert a penalty during a World Cup match.
Nyland made several crucial saves in the second half, including stopping a close-range shot from Rayan Rocha. Haaland opened the scoring in the 79th minute, heading in a cross from Andreas Schjelderup. He sealed the victory in the 90th minute with a powerful shot from outside the box. In stoppage time, Neymar converted a penalty for Brazil, but they could not find an equalizer.
Haaland has now scored seven goals in the tournament, matching Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi. Brazil has been eliminated by European teams in every World Cup knockout stage since winning the title in 2002. Norway will face the winner of the England vs. Mexico match in the quarterfinals.
