Artūrs Šilovs has agreed to a new contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League (NHL). Next season, the Latvian goaltender will earn $2.8 million, a significant raise from his previous salary of $850,000.
The 25-year-old played his first full NHL season last year, appearing in 39 regular-season games for the Penguins and earning 19 wins. He posted an 88.8% save percentage and a 3.07 goals-against average.
In the Stanley Cup playoffs, Šilovs played three games, recording two wins. He stopped 93.9% of shots faced and allowed just 1.52 goals per game.
Before joining the Penguins, Šilovs appeared sporadically for the Vancouver Canucks over three seasons. The new contract underscores the team's confidence in his abilities and future potential.
