Norway fire destroys over 100 homes, helicopters drop water
A massive fire in Drammen, southern Norway, has destroyed more than 100 homes, forcing hundreds to evacuate, with no casualties reported.

A large fire raging through the city of Drammen in southern Norway has destroyed over 100 homes, according to rescue officials. The blaze, located about 30 miles west of Oslo, has also spread to a nearby forest. Hundreds of residents have been evacuated from the area, but no casualties or missing persons have been reported so far.
Dozens of firefighters are battling the flames, but local police have stated that the fire is "still not under control." The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
Thomas Evjen, a Red Cross worker in Drammen, told Reuters that the rapid spread of the fire was due to the recent weather conditions. "It says something about the heat we've had lately. It's been very dry. So once the fire started, it spread quickly. That's what we've seen," he said.
