Mother Outraged Over Insurer's Demands After Teen Hit at Pedestrian Crossing in Ogre
After a traffic accident in Ogre in which a teenager was injured, his mother is outraged over the insurer "Compensa" demanding additional proof of damaged belongings to receive compensation.

A teenager was hit at a pedestrian crossing in Ogre, suffering a concussion, a hip contusion, and psychological trauma, which has left him afraid to cross that section of road. The accident also damaged his personal belongings, including torn clothing and glasses.
The victim's mother, Gunta, contacted the insurer of the driver at fault, "Compensa," to claim compensation. However, the insurer requested additional evidence to prove what clothes her son was wearing at the time of the accident, which she does not have.
Juris Stengrevics, a board member of the Latvian Insurers' Association, explained that losses must be proven in some way, possibly through a medical institution, but even without evidence, the victim would not be left without compensation. Edgars Lūcis, head of the claims department at "Compensa Vienna Insurance Group" in Latvia, said that information about the damaged items was not recorded, so the client was asked for additional proof, including the approximate years of purchase. He stressed that compensation will be paid, but it must be correctly determined.
