Opta Supercomputer: France Still Top Favorites for World Cup
According to Opta's supercomputer, France has a 28% chance of winning the World Cup, ahead of Spain, England, and Argentina.

Following the World Cup round of 16, Opta's supercomputer has updated its favorites. France remains the leading contender with a 28% probability of winning the title. Spain is second at 22%, England third at 17%, while defending champion Argentina has dropped to fourth with 16%. Norway (6%), Morocco and Belgium (both 4%), and Switzerland (3%) round out the list.
France has been perfect so far, winning all five matches with a 14-2 goal difference. They have beaten Senegal (3-1), Iraq (3-0), Norway (4-1), Sweden (3-0), and Paraguay (1-0). In the quarterfinals on Thursday, they will face Morocco, who defeated Canada 3-0 in the round of 16.
The 2026 World Cup will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The current world champions are Argentina.
