On Saturday afternoon, temperatures across Latvia are expected to reach 27–30°C, according to forecasters. The heat will intensify on Sunday and Monday, with air temperatures climbing to 31–35°C, prompting an orange-level warning.

Heat stress adds strain to the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Elderly people, infants, and those with chronic illnesses are particularly at risk of health complications.

To mitigate the effects of heat, it is recommended to drink more fluids than usual, ventilate rooms at night, and close curtains or blinds during the day. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, heavy physical exertion, and wear light, breathable, and light-colored clothing.

Pet owners should ensure their animals have access to fresh water. People cooling off in water should be cautious: a person who is overheated should not jump into cold water abruptly, as the sudden temperature change can cause cardiac arrhythmias and even sudden death.
