Paraguay downs Turkey 1-0 despite red card, eliminates them from World Cup

Paraguay secured a dramatic 1-0 victory over Turkey on Friday, despite being reduced to ten men just before halftime, knocking Turkey out of the tournament.

The fastest goal of the World Cup so far came from Paraguay midfielder Matias Galarza, who scored from 25 meters after just 64 seconds, beating the previous record set earlier by Morocco's Ismael Saibari.

However, Paraguay's task became harder when midfielder Miguel Almiron received a straight red card in first-half stoppage time. He was penalized for putting his hand over his mouth during a confrontation with Turkey's Mert Muldur, becoming the first player to fall foul of the tournament's new rule.
