Paula Freimane: Developing a protein bar took longer than writing a cookbook
Cookbook author Paula Freimane says creating her own protein bar took nearly two years — longer than writing a cookbook. She now sets her own work schedule while developing new projects.

Cookbook author Paula Freimane says cooking was not originally her strong suit. Her interest grew gradually through her passion for sports and nutrition, which eventually led her to creating recipes and later publishing two cookbooks.
After releasing her second book, Freimane wanted to try something new — creating her own protein bar. The idea seemed simple at first, but the path to a finished product turned out to be much longer than she expected.
Nearly two years of work
Freimane says she didn't want to remain just the idea's author when it came to product development — she personally took part in creating the recipe, testing flavors, proportions and textures. Developing the first two protein bars took almost two years. As she jokingly puts it, writing a cookbook takes less time than creating one truly good protein bar.
Freedom to plan her own days
Today, Freimane sets her own work rhythm, develops new projects and keeps searching for her next ideas. She notes that she doesn't have to go to an office, and no one dictates when she should wake up or where she needs to be — she plans her own day. The freedom she once dreamed of has now become her everyday reality.
More about Paula Freimane's experience can be read in the September issue of the magazine "Jauns OK".
