After election defeat, "Gobzems List" says it does not plan to dissolve
The Latvian party "Gobzems List" has failed to enter the Saeima for a second election in a row and has lost its state funding. Board member Agris Freifalts says it will try to keep working and is not considering liquidation.

The Latvian political party "Gobzems List" has missed out on seats in the Saeima, Latvia's parliament, for the second election in a row and has lost its state funding as a result. Even so, the party intends to continue and is not thinking of dissolving itself, board member Agris Freifalts said, according to the news agency LETA and the portal Jauns.lv.
What the party leadership says
According to Freifalts, the party will still try to carry on with its work. Liquidation is not currently on its agenda. The source does not detail how the party will operate without state funding, what its immediate plans are, or what result it received in the latest election.
How the party came about
The party was founded by Aldis Gobzems ahead of the 14th Saeima elections. After the election setback he announced he was leaving politics, moved to Spain and changed his name to Arigo Toro.
Why it matters
State funding for political parties depends on election results, so parties that fail to enter the Saeima and lose this support face a difficult position. In the case of "Gobzems List", its founder has already withdrawn from politics, while the remaining leadership stresses its wish to keep the organisation alive.
