Educator introduces warm grain method for relaxation

Inese Grīnvalde, an educator with a master’s degree in supervision and art therapy, has developed a device filled with warm grains for developmental activities and stress reduction. The method is called ‘Laimes bļoda’, which can be translated as a bowl of happiness. She says the inspiration came from memories of swimming in warm grains.

In the audio recording of the conversation, Grīnvalde demonstrates a breathing exercise while submerging her hands in the grains. She stresses the importance of having different stress-relief methods, since different approaches may work for different people.

The ‘Laimes bļoda’ combines sensory experience with breathing practice, helping individuals calm down and focus on the present moment. The warmth and texture of the grains provide a soothing tactile sensation, while the breathing exercise helps relax the body and mind. Such sessions could be useful for both adults and children, as they may support attention and emotional regulation.

Grīnvalde notes that managing stress is not a straightforward process, so it is worth exploring a variety of tools and techniques. Her creation serves as one example of how to find peace and balance in daily life. More about the origins of the method and the author’s ideas can be heard in the audio recording.
