Philips has acknowledged that a software update released in June (version 2071353020) has caused some Hue Bridge Pro units to stop working. The company stated that the issue only occurs when users have automatic updates disabled, remain on an older firmware version for an extended period, and then manually install the update after it has been stored on the Bridge device for more than 10 days.

According to Philips, fewer than 100 Hue Bridge Pro devices have been affected. The company is offering free replacements to anyone impacted, regardless of warranty status. Affected users can contact Philips support to receive a replacement.

Philips is also rolling out a new update designed to prevent the problem from recurring. However, users who receive a replacement will need to set up the new device from scratch, which could be time-consuming since the Bridge Pro can connect up to 150 lights and 50 accessories, along with setting up shortcuts and schedules.

This gesture is particularly welcomed by US customers, given recent price increases for the device. Philips noted that the new update is already being distributed and should prevent similar issues with other Bridge Pro units.
