Pivnenko: Russia would need 70,000 troops for threat from Belarus – let them try
Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine Oleksandr Pivnenko stated that for a real threat from Belarus, Russia would need 70,000 troops, and Ukrainian forces are working to prevent them from gathering such forces.

In an interview with Interfax-Ukraine, Major General Oleksandr Pivnenko, Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, said that the enemy's main task is to stretch Ukrainian forces to advance deeper into the territory. However, this requires significant resources – 70,000 troops capable of action. Pivnenko remarked: "Let them try to gather them, and we will try to make sure they don't find them."
Pivnenko also emphasized that National Guard units, together with other defense forces, are involved in security measures along the border. The situation in the Sumy and Chernihiv directions is currently stable. Special attention is paid to drones – they are used around the clock to continuously monitor the border area. The commander assured that Ukraine is prepared for any threats from the north and that the 2022 scenario will not repeat.
Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that Russia continues attempts to drag Belarus into the war, possibly to conduct an operation against a NATO country. Commander Brovdi ("Madjar"), commenting on the threat from Belarus, stated that Ukrainian forces have already identified 500 targets on Belarusian territory and called on Lukashenko not to "poke his nose." Lukashenko reacted by threatening a strike on a "very serious" target in Ukraine, the coordinates of which Minsk allegedly possesses. Later, he apologized to Zelensky for his harsh words and claimed that no military action from Belarus is expected.
