Massive Outage Hits Meta Platforms – Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger
On Friday, June 12, thousands of users worldwide experienced disruptions on Meta's platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger, confirmed by the company.

On Friday, June 12, thousands of users worldwide faced widespread outages affecting Meta's social media platforms – Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger. The issues were tracked via social media posts and data from Downdetector, as reported by The New York Post.
Downdetector showed a sharp spike in Instagram complaints – from about 25 reports to several thousand. Users reported being automatically logged out, unable to load the app, or access their profiles. Similar problems occurred on Facebook and Messenger, with many users being logged out and receiving error messages when trying to log back in.
Meta confirmed the disruptions. Andy Stone, Vice President of Communications, wrote on platform X: “We’re aware that people are having trouble accessing our services right now. We are working on getting things back to normal.”
On social media, users shared their experiences – one mentioned a “blank page,” another said they were suddenly logged out and couldn't log back in. Some questioned whether the outage was global, while others claimed Facebook was down worldwide. The issues affected not just individual platforms but many reported problems across all three Meta apps simultaneously.
