Polish business leaders call for dialogue between Poland and Ukraine amid tensions
The Polish Entrepreneurship Council has urged Polish and Ukrainian authorities to engage in dialogue following a recent escalation in bilateral tensions.

The Polish Entrepreneurship Council has sent a letter to the Polish and Ukrainian governments, calling for dialogue in the face of a new deterioration in relations. The council expressed concern over the growing tension in recent weeks and emphasized that dialogue and cooperation remain the primary way to resolve differences.
The council reminded that after Russia's full-scale invasion began in 2022, Polish society and entrepreneurs opened their hearts and homes to millions of refugees from Ukraine. The economies of both countries have become closely intertwined, and the sides must work to reduce tensions. “Nearly a million Ukrainian workers and entrepreneurs are an integral part of Poland's economic system, and Poland is today Ukraine's most important trade partner. This capital of trust cannot be wasted,” the statement said.
Polish business representatives urged the authorities of both countries to take steps aimed at de-escalation and strengthening economic and institutional cooperation. They stressed that the common interests of Poland and Ukraine “far outweigh the differences that divide us.” The council also declared its readiness to support any initiatives aimed at dialogue, economic cooperation, and building a strong partnership.
Earlier, on June 19, Polish President Karol Nawrocki decided to strip Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle, citing the naming of a Ukrainian military unit after heroes of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). Nawrocki stated that Poland would not allow EU membership to those who do not understand the need to renounce the “cult of totalitarianism and violence.” In response, several current and former Ukrainian officials announced they would return their Polish awards. It also raised questions about whether Zelenskyy will attend the upcoming Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdańsk.
