PSG hand Barcelona their first defeat of the season

French football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) handed Spain's Barcelona their first defeat of the season on Tuesday, in a third-round match of the UEFA Champions League, Europe's top club football competition.

What is known about the match

PSG won the Champions League in each of the previous two seasons, so the meeting was a test of the reigning champion against one of the tournament's best-known clubs.

For the Catalan side it was the first setback of the new campaign. Until this match, the team had not lost this season.

The source report does not give the score, the goalscorers or other details of how the match went, so they are not mentioned here.
