UK fintech company Revolut announced on Monday, 26 October, that it is developing Revolut Ventures, a platform that will allow everyday investors to put money into private, unlisted technology companies. It will be built into the Revolut app and is expected to become available in 2027. The move matters because such investments have so far been hard for individuals to access.

Why it matters

Revolut points to a trend of tech firms going public later. According to figures the company cited, the median age of a company at listing rose from 6.9 years in 2014 to 11 years in 2025. As a result, more of a company's growth happens before its shares reach public markets, where retail investors can buy them.

Rolandas Juteika, Head of Revolut Wealth and Trading (EEA), said in the announcement that Revolut Ventures aims to remove one of the last barriers in wealth management: the exclusion of retail investors from non-listed companies. He said value is created long before an initial public offering (IPO), and that by running its own platform Revolut can give investors access to tomorrow's market leaders directly in the app.

The platform will sit alongside existing options in the app: stocks, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), bonds and money market funds. The announcement follows the launch of private market investment products in selected European Economic Area countries in July 2026.

Risks

Investments in private companies carry significant risks. Unlike publicly traded shares, they are harder to sell, and investors could lose a substantial part or all of the capital they invest.

Company plans

Revolut continues to expand, having secured full banking licences in the UK and France earlier this year. The company, which is seeking to diversify its revenue, is also considering a dual listing in London and New York, though no date has been confirmed.
