Rītabuļļi Shooting Case Transferred to Military Police; Investigation to Determine if Bullet Came from Service Weapon
A woman who was wounded by a bullet in Rītabuļļi in March has had her case transferred to the Military Police to investigate whether the shot was fired from a National Armed Forces service weapon.

The State Police has transferred the criminal case concerning a shooting incident in Rītabuļļi to the Military Police. The National Armed Forces (NAF) confirmed that the Military Police will continue the investigation to determine whether the bullet was fired from a service weapon.
The victim, a woman, was injured on March 4 near a military facility at 63 Dzintara iela, the location of the NAF Special Operations Command. Military exercises were taking place at that time. She first sought treatment at Paula Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital, where doctors assessed the injury as non-life-threatening and discharged her with the bullet still inside, recommending follow-up care with a family doctor. Later, the two-centimeter bullet was surgically removed at Rīgas Austrumu Clinical University Hospital.
The Health Inspectorate completed an inquiry into the hospital's actions and concluded that they were in line with current medical practice regarding foreign object removal. The Military Police will now investigate whether the bullet originated from an NAF service weapon.
