Border Guard Caught Driving with 1.5 Promille Alcohol; Case Sent to Prosecutor's Office
A State Border Guard employee was caught driving a private vehicle while intoxicated, with a breath alcohol concentration exceeding 1.5 promille. The criminal case has been forwarded to the Southern Latgale Prosecutor's Office.

During the pre-trial investigation, evidence was obtained that a State Border Guard official, while off duty, drove a private vehicle under the influence of alcohol. A breath alcohol test showed a concentration exceeding 1.5 promille.
The criminal case has been submitted to the Southern Latgale Prosecutor's Office with a proposal to initiate criminal prosecution under Section 262 of the Criminal Law, which covers driving with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 1.5 promille. The Internal Security Bureau (ISB) reminds that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Law.
