Saily Ultra eSIM Plan Delivers Big Data Bundle and Travel Perks at a Premium Price
Wired's review of the Saily Ultra eSIM plan found solid performance and a generous 30GB high-speed allowance, plus airport perks, though the plan carries a relatively high cost. Once the data cap is hit, speeds throttle to 1 Mbps.

Wired conducted an extensive test of the Saily Ultra eSIM plan, using it primarily in the UK and briefly across Europe. Setup through the Saily app was quick and straightforward, and the connection stayed reliable while roaming, reaching speeds of around 300 Mbps on 5G in city centers and dropping to roughly 15 Mbps on 4G in more rural areas. Saily relies on local carrier networks, connecting mainly to EE and Vodafone during testing.
The Ultra plan includes 30GB of high-speed data per month, after which users get unlimited data throttled to a maximum of 1 Mbps — enough for messaging and browsing, but not for video streaming. While the average user consumes around 20GB monthly, travelers without regular Wi-Fi access may burn through the allowance faster than expected.
Pricing and Alternatives
For trips focused on a single region, Saily also offers targeted plans, such as unlimited UK data for 15 days at $49, or unlimited data across 35 European countries for a month at $72 — both subject to a 5GB daily fair-use cap. Compared with other international eSIM services tested over the years, Saily performs well and is easy to use, though it remains relatively expensive.
Bundled Perks
Ultra subscribers receive one free airport lounge pass and one fast-track security pass per month, along with access to security tools including NordVPN, NordPass, NordLocker, and Incogni, reflecting Saily's ownership by Nord Security. The plan also includes an ad blocker, priority support, and a credit-back system. Unused lounge and fast-track passes roll over for up to three months, though they cannot be shared with others. The exact perks on offer are subject to change over time.
