In San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood, a queer-owned brunch, lunch and event space called 'Hilda and Jesse' has become a local favorite. Its owner, chef Ollijs Liedags, is a 38-year-old Latvian citizen who named the restaurant after his Latvian grandmother, Hilda.

Liedags holds a Michelin star, an honor that came as a surprise to him. He speaks with firm confidence about his work and himself. The restaurant stands as a testament to his success and a connection to his Latvian roots, blending family heritage with culinary excellence in the heart of the city.
