Sinner defends Wimbledon title, beats Zverev in final

Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner successfully defended his Wimbledon crown on Sunday, defeating Germany's Alexander Zverev.

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner retained his Wimbledon title on Sunday, defeating Alexander Zverev 6-7 (7:9), 7-6 (7:2), 6-3, 6-4.

The first set saw only one break point, which Sinner failed to convert, and he lost the tiebreak 7:9. The second set also went to a tiebreak, but this time Sinner prevailed 7:2. In the third set, Sinner converted the only break point in the eighth game to go up 5-3 and then held serve to love. In the fourth set, Sinner broke Zverev's serve once, finally converting on his third consecutive break point in the seventh game to lead 4:3, and sealed the match on his first match point in the tenth game.

Although Zverev had more aces (17-15) and a higher first-serve percentage (76%-64%), both players had two double faults, but Sinner dominated in other stats. He committed far fewer unforced errors (25-45) and won 145 of 275 points.

This is Sinner's second Wimbledon title. He also has two Australian Open titles, one US Open, and a runner-up finish at the 2025 French Open. Zverev, at 29 years and 70 days, became the oldest player in the Open Era to have reached the finals of all four Grand Slam tournaments.
