Slate Auto, the carmaker backed by Jeff Bezos that produces the most affordable electric truck in the US, has announced a partnership with crayon company Crayola. The collaboration marks Crayola's first automotive venture and introduces five vibrant wrap colors: Cerulean, Fern, Jersey Tomato, Razzmatazz, and Dandelion, all taken from Crayola's existing crayon lineup.

Each Crayola starter pack includes the wrap, decals, a color-coordinated key-fob cap, and a clip-on dashboard accessory called a "Slatelet." The packs will be sold through Slate's online marketplace alongside over 200 other accessories.

The base Slate truck starts at $24,950, making it the cheapest new truck in the US. It features a single gray composite body, no touchscreen, and manual windows to keep costs down. Standard wraps in over 100 hues start at $500, with professional installation costing roughly the same. The Crayola packs, however, are priced at $1,550—three times the cost of a standard wrap, a significant premium for the brand's affordable customization pitch.

The rear-wheel-drive, single-motor electric truck offers a claimed 205-mile range, a 2,000-pound towing capacity, and a 1,550-pound payload. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph takes 8 seconds, and top speed is 90 mph. The 65-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, cheaper than traditional NMC batteries, supports DC fast charging at 120 kW, allowing a 20–80% charge in just 30 minutes.

Prospective buyers can preorder a Slate for $300 ($250 for existing $50 reservation holders) and add the Crayola pack later. Deliveries are expected to begin in Q4 2026, with most vehicles shipping in 2027.
