Brain Aging Can Be Slowed by Regular Learning, Neurologists Say
Although brain mass begins to shrink as early as age 30–40, everyone can maintain mental clarity by regularly learning new things and supporting neuroplasticity, according to neurologists from Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital.

The rate of brain aging depends on many factors, but each person can slow it down by regularly learning and mastering new things, thereby maintaining the brain's neuroplasticity. This was stated by neurologists Ramona Valante and Krista Lazdovska from Pauls Stradiņš Clinical University Hospital on the Latvijas Radio program "How to Live Better". The experts emphasized that brain mass starts to decrease as early as 30–40 years of age, but this does not mean mental clarity is lost. Through regular acquisition of new skills and information processing, it is possible to significantly influence brain health and cognitive functions.
