A heated debate has erupted on the social platform 'Threads' regarding real wage changes in Latvia over the past decade. User Dāvis posted that real wages in the country increased by 48% from 2015 to 2025, adding that this fact might upset those who constantly complain about the poor situation.

Comments quickly turned into a broad discussion. Several users pointed out that while real wages are already adjusted for inflation, the increase in living costs has been uneven. It was mentioned that expenses for housing, food, and utilities have risen significantly. For example, one commenter noted that the price of white bread increased by about 78% over ten years, while mortgage and EURIBOR rate hikes added further burden.

Other users questioned the usefulness of average indicators, emphasizing that they do not always reflect individual experiences. One commenter stated that their salary rose from €350 to €1,500, far more than 48%, but they still do not feel a significant improvement in well-being because prices have risen even faster.

This discussion reflects broader public concerns about the gap between statistical data and real life, especially given the impact of inflation and housing costs on household budgets.
