Finnish Defense Forces Restrict Access to Eastern Gulf of Finland
Finnish Defense Forces imposed temporary restrictions on a sea area near Kotka on Saturday morning to ensure safety and enable possible drone interception.

At 5:45 AM on Saturday, the Finnish Defense Forces introduced temporary restrictions on access to the eastern part of the Gulf of Finland, citing a potential need to destroy drones to ensure the safety of civilians. The restrictions apply to the sea area near the city of Kotka.
According to Yle, the Finnish public broadcaster, a correspondent in the area reported seeing multiple fighter jets patrolling, appearing in the sky approximately every ten minutes.
The Defense Forces stated that no drones have entered Finnish territory, but air defense has been reinforced, including with patrolling fighter jets. No restrictions on airspace use were imposed. The sea area restrictions will remain in effect until further notice.
In recent months, there have been several incidents where Ukrainian drones attacking targets in northwestern Russia, including ports on the Gulf of Finland, have deviated from their course and entered the territory of neighboring countries.
