Spanish slug – invasive species, but no unified control plan
Since March, Spanish slug has been recognized as invasive in Latvia, but municipalities lack a common approach to limiting its spread.

Since March, Spanish slug has been officially recognized as an invasive species in Latvia, yet there is still no unified system to curb its spread. Each municipality decides independently whether to develop binding regulations to combat this pest.
So far, no municipality has completed such regulations. Some have started working on them, others have chosen to wait, and a few do not plan to introduce separate rules at all. This means the approach to controlling Spanish slugs may vary across different regions.
