A locally severe storm hit Rēzekne municipality on Sunday, causing damage to forests, including LVM areas. Damage amounts to approximately 1,500 cubic meters; assessment is ongoing.

On Sunday afternoon, a locally severe storm struck Rēzekne municipality, causing significant damage to forests. Wind gusts uprooted and broke trees, blocking forest roads and trails in some places. The damage also affected territories managed by JSC "Latvijas valsts meži" (LVM) in the Rēzna and Rušona forest districts.
Currently, the estimated damage from the storm amounts to approximately 1,500 cubic meters. LVM specialists are continuing to survey the affected areas to assess the extent of the damage and prioritize clearing forest roads and implementing safety measures. Cleanup operations for damaged stands will be planned after the assessment.
LVM urges residents to exercise caution when entering storm-affected forest areas, as damaged trees and branches may pose additional hazards.
