A third of Latvians have not considered a summer home medicine kit
A survey shows that 36% of Latvian residents have not considered creating a summer home medicine supply or do not know what to include, while 64% believe they know.

According to a survey conducted by Mēness Aptieka and the research agency Norstat, 36% of Latvian residents have not thought about assembling a home medicine supply for the summer or do not know what medications and medical products should be included. Meanwhile, 64% of respondents believe they have sufficient knowledge about the necessary items.
Ērika Pētersone, a certified pharmacist at Mēness Aptieka, notes that during summer, when people often go on vacation, outdoor trips, swimming, and hiking, the risk of sunburns, insect bites, and minor household injuries increases. Therefore, she recommends checking the availability of first aid supplies before heading out for recreation.
The pharmacist emphasizes that a summer home medicine kit should include sunscreen and after-sun care products, wound care supplies, plasters and bandages, as well as allergy and insect bite remedies. Preparations for restoring fluid and electrolyte balance are also important. She also reminds that for longer trips, it is essential to bring all prescribed medications for chronic conditions.
The representative survey, commissioned by Mēness Aptieka, included 1,004 residents aged 18 to 74.
