Ukraine retrains its wounded veterans as deminers to reclaim the land

The war in Ukraine has left many veterans with severe injuries, including lost limbs from explosions. However, the country is finding ways to engage these individuals in the recovery process. One initiative is a small, donor-funded program that retrains war-wounded people as deminers.
Among the participants is Maksym Dobrianskyi, who lost a leg after stepping on a Russian mine. He joined this project, which not only offers a chance to return to the workforce but also helps clear Ukraine's land of explosives that threaten civilians and hinder economic revival.
The program focuses on providing new skills and job opportunities to people who have lost their health due to the war. It is part of broader efforts to make Ukraine safer and promote its post-war reconstruction.
