Ukrainian forces strike Ozon logistics hub in Russia for the first time, sparking major fire
Ukraine's defence forces struck an Ozon marketplace logistics hub in Chapayevsk, Russia's Samara Oblast, overnight on 21-22 August, triggering a large fire at the facility.

Overnight between 21 and 22 August, Ukraine's defence forces carried out a drone strike on a logistics hub belonging to the Ozon online marketplace in the city of Chapayevsk, located in Russia's Samara Oblast. The information was reported by monitoring Telegram channels and Russian media outlets.
The strike triggered a large fire at the complex. Flames spread rapidly across a wide area, sending a thick column of smoke visible from a distance into the sky.
One of the region's largest warehouses
The Chapayevsk logistics hub spans 135,000 square metres, making it one of the largest warehouse facilities in the Volga region. Its construction reportedly cost around 5 billion roubles, roughly US$60.5 million. Ozon ranks as Russia's second-largest online marketplace, trailing only Wildberries.
Part of a broader campaign against logistics infrastructure
Since July, Ukraine's defence forces have been systematically targeting Russian logistics infrastructure that is used by Russian military units to procure dual-use goods, ammunition, communications equipment and drone components at scale.
Recognising the threat to its facilities, Ozon had earlier ordered the urgent installation of fire-protection systems on the roofs of dozens of its warehouses across Russia.
