Repairs Underway on 68 State Road Sections; Major Overhaul of Koknese Highway Begins
Currently, repair work is taking place on 68 state road sections, causing traffic restrictions and slower travel. On the Tīnūži–Koknese road, asphalt renewal has started over more than 48 kilometers.

According to Latvian State Roads (LVC), repair works are currently ongoing at 68 state road sections, so drivers should expect restrictions and slower traffic.
On the regional state road Tīnūži–Koknese, asphalt concrete pavement renewal has commenced over more than 48 kilometers. The work is carried out in two sections: in Ogre Municipality from Kranciems quarry to "Avārijas brigādes parks" and in Aizkraukle Municipality from Krape junction to Koknese. The project includes milling the existing surface, laying new asphalt, repairing bridges and overpasses, removing vegetation, installing road markings and signs, replacing animal fencing, and constructing new rumble strips. The contractor is SIA "Vianova", and the total value of the two contracts is €7.614 million.
Other Works and Restrictions
In total, works are taking place at 10 locations on main state roads, 16 on regional roads, and 27 on local roads. Additionally, repairs are ongoing on seven bridges and overpasses, and traffic safety is being improved in eight sections.
The most significant restrictions on main state roads are on the Daugavpils highway: between Gospori and Nīcgale there are two traffic light sections, with an estimated crossing time of 40 minutes; between Kalnišķi and Ļūbaste the crossing time is estimated at 25 minutes. The Daugavpils bypass is also being repaired.
On the Bauska highway near the entrance to Rīga, construction of the fourth stage of the Southern Bridge is underway, as well as a pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure connection between Ķekava and Rīga. Long-term congestion has been forming there.
The biggest restrictions on regional roads are on sections from Vecpiebalga to Madona, from Litenes to Balvi, on the Bauska–Aizkraukle road from Ozolaine to Bārbele, and on the Roja–Valdemārpils road. These sections have many traffic light zones, and drivers should budget at least an extra half-hour for travel.
