Summer Forecast Missed the Mark: Meteorologists Explain Why and What’s Next
The calm summer with normal precipitation predicted in spring did not materialize – the first half proved more variable. Experts analyze the discrepancy and offer a view on the remaining summer.

Last spring, forecasters at the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre (LVĢMC) predicted a relatively calm summer, with precipitation at normal or slightly below normal levels, and the main risks being storms and heat. However, the first half of summer turned out to be much more variable than initially forecast.
To understand why the forecast did not come true, the portal “Delfi” revisited the LVĢMC meteorologists. They explain the reasons behind the different weather patterns and provide insight into what to expect in the second half of summer. While exact figures on precipitation and temperature are not disclosed, experts note that variability exceeded initial estimates.
Those interested are encouraged to follow updated forecasts to prepare for potential weather challenges.
